Welcome to 2025 Primary
'"The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy."
Psalm 126:3
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope you have all enjoyed a refreshing term break with your family and friends. I am very much looking forward to welcoming back our Primary students on Tuesday, 7 October, ready to see their bright smiles and hear the wonderful laughter that fills our classrooms and playgrounds. Our LCC Primary staff are equally excited to begin Term 4 with their students and to support them in completing the year with confidence, joy, and personal best achievements.
Production – Finding Nemo
What an amazing celebration of acting and singing we experienced in the Primary Production of Finding Nemo last term! Our students shone on stage, bringing so much energy, creativity, and joy to their performances. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they shared their talents with such enthusiasm.
A heartfelt thank you goes to our dedicated staff headed by our amazing Drama teacher and Head of Upper Primary – Mrs Kathyrn Samuel who have all worked tirelessly behind the scenes to guide and encourage our students, and to the parents for their support with costumes, rehearsals, and cheering on the nights. Productions like these remind us of the incredible gifts God has given our students, and it was a blessing to see them use those gifts to bring such delight to our community.
Scripture Challenge 2025 – Ephesians 4:1-13
I am delighted to share that many students have successfully recited from memory the Scripture Challenge passage for 2025 and will be awarded the special Scripture Challenge medal during Primary Presentation Night. I am also looking forward to celebrating the many students who will achieve an ‘A’ grade for their Scripture memorisation this year.
Prep & Year 3 Swimming Program
From Friday 10 October to Friday 17 October (Term 4), our Prep and Year 3 students will have the opportunity to participate in the LCC 6-Day Swimming Program with instructors at the Toby Haenen Swim Centre. Parents are kindly asked to respond via Consent2Go to ensure their child’s participation in the program. Please note that parent helpers may only enter the pool area after presenting their Working With Children Check (WWCC) to the supervising teacher in the pool foyer.
Year 6 Graduation Dinner and Ceremony
We are delighted to announce details for our upcoming Year 6 Graduation. This special occasion will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our students as they complete their Primary years.
The College will cover the cost for all Year 6 students. Each student may invite two family members to attend. There will be a cost for family tickets. Invitations with further details will be sent home during Term 4, Week 1. We look forward to sharing this memorable time of celebration with you.
Year 6 parents please note the change of date this year to Thursday 13 November 6:00pm-9:00pm due to the unfortunate clash of dates with the Year 12 Valedictory Dinner. Thankfully, we were able to move our event to ensure a family with students attending both events can enjoy this special time with their children.
Primary Presentation Night
This event will be upon us before we know it, as Term 4 always seems to fly by too quickly! Primary Presentation Night is a compulsory event on Thursday, 27 November, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm, when we come together to celebrate a year of student achievements. Awards will be presented for Scripture Memorisation, Academic Excellence, Diligence, Christian Character, as well as in Music, Art, PE, Drama, and Mandarin. Our Primary students will also share a very special nativity play this year, including songs of praise to God as we celebrate the most wonderful gift of all – His Son, Jesus. A letter will be sent via SEQTA closer to the event with booking details.
After School Student Dismissal
If your child is to be picked up by anyone other than a parent or guardian, it is very important that both the School Reception and your child’s Homeroom Teacher are informed in advance. This ensures that staff can confirm your child is leaving school safely with an authorised person.
This procedure is in place to
· Protect student safety – Teachers and office staff need to be certain that every child is released only to those who have parental permission.
· Avoid confusion at dismissal – When staff are aware of alternate arrangements, they can guide your child calmly and confidently at the end of the school day.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us uphold the safety of every student.
Jefferson & Vania
Please encourage your child to save some money to bring each week for our sponsor children Jefferson and Vania to put in his/her classroom’s money box. These boxes are collected by our ‘Parents & Friends’ helpers who count and bank the money every Thursday which is then sent on to provide clothing, education and health care for Jefferson and Vania.
We are having a Compassion Fundraiser Thursday the 30th of October (Term 4, Week 4), in Primary for Jeferson and Vania. To acknowledge how we want to bless Jeferson and Vania with our donations, the theme will be ‘Be a Blessing’, and Primary students and staff will be encouraged to dress up in a costume beginning with the letter ‘B’. Examples include builder, ballerina, basketballer, Bluey, birthday cake, and so on. As part of their dress up, we ask students to bring a gold coin donation, which will be passed on to Jeferson and Vania.
Primary Activity Day
Friday 28 November (the day after Primary Presentation Night) we will be taking all our Primary students for a special outing to ‘Enchanted Adventure’ Arthurs Seat. We are very proud of the way our students at LCC listen and concentrate in class daily and have achieved many personal goals throughout 2025 – it is now time to celebrate a great year of learning, effort and concentration. Parents are kindly asked to respond via Consent2Go to ensure their child’s participation in our special day out together.
Summer Uniform
All students are expected to wear their summer uniform from the beginning of Term 4. If you experience any difficulties in purchasing uniform items, please contact your child’s Homeroom teacher. As many of our Primary students have grown since the start of the year, we ask parents to check the length of summer dresses (mid-calf length). For some students, it may now be time to adjust the hem or order the next size up. It is also advisable to recheck hem lengths again in January, in preparation for the start of the 2026 school year. A reminder that Prep – Year 2 boys do not wear a tie with the short-sleeve summer shirt.

Prep orientation 2026
Prep Parents please note that Prep students DO NOT come to school Wednesday 19 November as we will be conducting our 2026 Prep Orientation Day.
Homework
Please ensure your child has a quiet place at home to complete homework activities. At LCC, we expect all homework to be completed within the set timeframe. Homework tasks reinforce classroom learning, provide valuable practice, and help students apply concepts for better retention. They also give parents the opportunity to engage with their child’s education and gain insight into what is being learned. Most importantly, homework encourages students to take initiative and responsibility, fostering ownership of their learning journey. Homeroom teachers check College diaries daily to support this process.
We are excited to share that the 2026 Primary Diary will have a refreshed design. It will support students in completing homework tasks, provide parents with clear reminders of upcoming dates, and feature a larger devotion and notes section to strengthen communication between the College and home.
Primary Captains 2026
We are currently in the process of selecting our Primary Year 6 Captains for 2026, in collaboration with the Year 5 teachers. This process involves several stages and provides every Year 5 student with the opportunity for selection. As part of their application, students write a letter to the Deputy Principal Primary outlining why they would like to take on a captaincy role, why they believe they are suitable, and how they would lead Primary in innovative and creative ways.
Alongside this, each student’s Christian character and record of exemplary behaviour at LCC are taken into account leading up to the final interview stage. While there are 14 leadership roles available, all Year 5 students will participate in a leadership training program (incursion) on Tuesday, 25 November, as the entire cohort is called to lead Primary in a positive and responsible way throughout 2026.
Chess Tutoring
In Primary we provide professional Chess tutors (Kids Unlimited) for any student from Year 1-6 and
from Term 3 onwards our Prep students may also join the program. Students are taught the art and skills of playing chess. There is still time to sign your child up for chess lessons in Term 4.
The cost is $200 / student / term. There are 8 sessions in a term beginning Wednesday 15 October 2025. Students participating in the Chess Club meet in BEAM 02 1:00pm-1:45pm every Wednesday lunchtime.

If you would like to book your child into the Chess Club, please open the invitation above via the QR Code. This will take you through to complete your booking for this special program.
Cyber Safety
Over the past two years, we have included this important reminder in our Term 4 Welcome Back Letter, as we continue to discover instances of students accessing inappropriate material at home. Sadly, there is a constant bombardment of damaging online content (including pornography) and programs that children can access with just one click on their personal computers, phones, or iPads. While LCC has a very strong internet safety net in place on campus, and we intentionally engage students in cyber safety learning conversations at every age and stage, we encourage parents and guardians to continue these important discussions at home. Please remain mindful of the content your child is accessing outside of school hours, and where possible, create safe online environments for them. Just as importantly, we encourage you to pray for and with your children in this area, inviting God into the centre of these conversations and seeking His wisdom and protection together as a family.
Yes, we need to put in internet safety measures both at school and at home; however, more importantly we need to communicate and have conversations with our children around this area (please read the excellent information contained in the two links underlined below; particularly ‘the material hurts our brains’ document), for example:
· naked images or videos are never appropriate or right.
· When we watch porn we sin against God, ourselves, and the people made in God’s image who are on the screen, exposed and vulnerable. If we unintentionally come across porn (or ‘bad images’), we need to get away and tell an adult.
· Viewing porn will always hurt people. It might not feel like it at the time, but the material hurts our brains, our walk with God, ourselves, a future spouse, and our views of each other.

Important Term 4 Dates

What an exciting Term 4 we have ahead of us in Primary! I am looking forward to celebrating our amazing Year 6 students graduating, welcoming our new 2026 Prep students at Orientation, enjoying the fun of Primary Activity Day, and finishing 2025 together with excellence and joy.
God bless,

God bless,
